Partnership with NOW Group demonstrates the CTTC’s commitment to fostering an inclusive and accessible commercial bus sector for all

The Coach Tourism and Transport Council (CTTC) is pleased to announce a new partnership with NOW Group, creators of the innovative JAM (Just A Minute) Card initiative. This transformative partnership, launched on Saturday, December 9th by Minister for Disabilities, Anne Rabbitte, signifies a pivotal step forward in championing inclusivity and accessibility across the commercial bus transport sector.

JAM Card users can discreetly present their JAM card while shopping, ordering food, visiting a bank, using public transport, and more. The straightforward premise is that if a business is JAM Card Friendly, they are trained to recognise and respond appropriately to the card, fostering a more comfortable and inclusive environment.

Speaking about the partnership, William Martin, Chair of the Coach Tourism and Transport Council explained that the CTTC, as the largest representative body for commercial bus operators, is dedicated to fostering a society that embraces diversity and ensures comfortable engagement with public transport services for individuals with varying needs.

“We are thrilled to embark on this journey with the JAM Card initiative. Inclusivity has always been at the forefront of our mission, and this partnership exemplifies our commitment to creating an environment where everyone feels welcomed and supported.”

“The CTTC will champion the JAM card amongst its membership and the wider commercial bus and coach sector. I would like to thank Minister Rabbitte for launching this important partnerhip today.” Mr. Martin concluded.

The official launch event saw Minister of State with Special Responsibility for Disabilities, Anne Rabbitte endorsing the collaboration, stating “I am delighted to see the CTTC embrace the JAM card, which has proven to be a wonderful tool for those with hidden disabilities utilising public transport and other services across the island of Ireland. I was delighted to have had the opportunity to engage with CTTC members on the challenges faced by operators in trying to make their respective fleets more accessible and I look forward to further engagement with the organisation in the new year.”

Business Development Manager for JAM Card, Nicola Tipping commented on the partnership, saying “At NOW Group we believe in a world where individuals can navigate public spaces at their own pace. We are excited to join forces with the CTTC to expand our reach and make a meaningful impact on the lives of those who may require a bit more time and understanding when using the services of commercial bus operators.”

This strategic collaboration is poised to make a substantial contribution to the ongoing efforts to build an inclusive society, fostering an environment where everyone can participate fully, regardless of their unique needs.
